If you strayed away from Disney+ during the summer, the streaming service has a promotion to get you back onboard.
Now through Sept. 20, new and returning customers can subscribe to the Disney+ Basic tier (with ads) for $1.99 per month for three months. The regular monthly price is $7.99, so you could save $18 over the 3-month period.
Over those three months, you get access to the newest animated Pixar film, "Elemental," which debuts on the service Sept. 13, the live-action "The Little Mermaid," which hit the service Wednesday, and the new Star Wars series "Ashoka," which landed on Disney+ on Aug. 22.
Other new programs include season two of the series starring the "Guardians of the Galaxy" breakout star, "I Am Groot," and National Geographic’s "Animals Up Close with Bertie Gregory," available Sept. 13.

The special offer comes as Disney+ prepares to increase its prices on many of the subscription options. The regular monthly price for Disney+ with ads remains $7.99. Prices for many of the other subscription options are increasing on Oct. 12.
For instance, Disney+ without ads increases from $10.99 to $13.99. The Trio Basic plan of Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+ with ads goes up from $12.99 to $14.99; Trio Premium of Disney+ and Hulu with no ads, and ESPN+ with ads, increases from $19.99 to $24.99.
Disney launched its Disney+ subscription service in November 2019 with premium content from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic. The service has 46 million subscribers in the U.S. and Canada, in the three-month period ending June 30 – down 1% from the previous quarter, and a total of 146.1 million subscribers worldwide.
